Donald G. May, 66, of Hanahan, the husband of Karen Williams May, died Monday, June 29, 2009. Born January 5, 1943 in Spring Grove, Indiana, he was the son of the late Archie E. May and Loretta Cairns May.
Donald began his career as a pipe fitter and retired as a shop planner at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Shop 56.
Donald is survived by his wife Karen, a step-son: Jason Williams (Andrea) of Moncks Corner; a step-daughter: Cherie Scudgington (Kris) of Goose Creek; three brothers: Travis May of Summerville, Monte May of Goose Creek and Bill May of Moncks Corner; a sister: Kathy Almodovar of Moncks Corner; mother-in-law: Colette Pittman; grandchildren: Jase, Faith and Luke Williams; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rhonda May.
The family will receive friends from 6-8PM with a prayer service beginning at 7PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel, 869 St. James Avenue. Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Thursday, July 2nd, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery, 10 Cunnington Avenue, Charleston.
